Why do we follow these standard practices?

The standard practices outlines in the WACAG manual is important for legal compliance, ethical responsibility, improved usability, and better SEO. By making your website more accessible, you can create a more inclusive online enviromant and improve the user experience for all visitors.

THREE LEVELS OF CONFORMANCE

Provide a set of rules that web developers can follow to make their websites more accessible to people with disabilities. these rules are organized into 3 levels of conformance: A, AA, and AAA. Here are some key rules for each level of conformance:

  • Provide text alternatives for non-text content, such as images and videos. 
  • Use headings and labels to organize content and make it easier to understand.
  • Ensure that content is easy to see and hear, with sufficent color contrast and audio content.
  • Ensure that contnet can be accessed by using a keyboard or other input device.
  • Provide alternatives for all content, including multimedia content and content that changes over time.
  • Ensure that contnet is navigable and understandable, with clear and concise language and instructions.
  • Provide mechanisms for users to bypass repetitive content, such as navigation menus. 
  • ensure that content is compatible with assertive technologies, such as screen readers.
  • Provides additional alternatives for content such as sign language interpretations for videos.
  • Ensure that content is designed to be compatible with a wide rangge of assistive technologies.
  • Provide more flexiable navigation options, such as skip links and adjustable time limits for completing tasks.
  • Provide more advanced user controls, such as text resizing and content reflow options.
